Margaret

Welcome to the world Margaret

It is with great pleasure that I am sitting down to tell you a story about a miracle that happened right here at Firefly Yoga.

On December 14 at our Lacey Yoga Therapy and Training Center, we were on our morning breakfast break, when one of our trainees was chatting with me about her Thanksgiving trip home to Florida, where she learned that her best friend was 7.5 months pregnant. As we were chatting, it became clear that this young woman was planning to put the baby up for adoption, so I immediately thought of my sweet friend and partner, Ronny.

A few months ago, Ronny shared with me that he and Jacob (his spouse) had about given up on ever becoming parents. I expressed a bit of sadness because I always thought they would make such great parents. Ronny responded that “if a baby just fell from the sky into our laps, we would be so happy.” But the likelihood of a miracle on that level seemed out of reach.

Until December 14.

When Ronny and Jacob heard about the potential child, they jumped at the chance to adopt and become parents.

Within a few days, they were on the phone with the young woman and an attorney. A few days after that, they were making arrangements for the young woman to come to Washington to give birth… but Margaret Gae Pearsall Johnson had different ideas.

The night of December 21, Ronny got a call that he should get on a plane and head to Florida. So, he did. And on December 22 at 7:40 a.m., Margaret arrived weighing in at 5 pounds 8 ounces.

Ronny arrived at the hospital just 3 hours later to welcome his new daughter into their lives. Jacob arrived just two days later.

The hospital kept Margaret a few more days, all the adoption paperwork got signed and now the new little family is waiting for the state of Florida to release them to travel to Washington. Due to Margaret’s vulnerable immune system and premature birth, the family will be taking a train across the country as soon as possible.

I have had a number of questions about ways we can support this new little family, so I checked in with them and they agreed, they are going to be well cared for with baby supplies from their respective families, but what would help them the most is financial support and they would LOVE homemade gifts that have meaning for both the giver and the receivers.

With that in mind, I have decided to set up a donation link on the Firefly web site and at the bottom of this letter. Please feel free to pass it on to anyone who might like to support this new little family.

Thank you in advance for your love and support for our friends.

Lisa
